As a game developer and artist I prize my ability to bring visuals to life with code, crafting experiences that are responsive, tactile, and delightful. Below is a sample of my work done in the Unity game engine and Processing. At present I am contracted on an unannounced mobile game, which I would like to share but alas.

 

Stellations

2024, Unity




Stellations is a solo project that explores thought loops in the form of game loops. Core features include a custom level editor, responsive synth score, and lots of splines. It is still in development with a free demo on Steam.


Virtual Virtual Reality 2

2021, Unity



I designed and coded several gameplay systems from the ground up for VVR2, including game staples such as fire propogation, enemy behaviour for the “data eater” enemies that pop in and out of props, and graph logic for the 2D “battery bank” puzzle in the player’s mech. I was also on deck to script NPC interactions for the vertical slice, including the “tour guide” tutorial, a croquet match with anthropomorphic wickets and balls, and the sentient “Butter” NPC that slithers around the mech. 



The Under Presents

2019, Unity



I joined the development of The Under Presents to complete a set of standalone levels (four so called “mind labyrinths”), working with writers, artists, and sound designers to integrate their assets into playable game objects with unique behaviours, each corresponding to a unique puzzle in the level. Examples include a typewriter that checks for key phrases, operable cranes, and a set of fully dismantle-able vignettes used to feed a dolphin.


Bota

2024, Unity



Bota is a networked multiplayer game that I completed with two colleagues from NYU. Along with the UI and gameplay programming, I took great joy in crafting the game feel, from the springy ships, to the effects for each ability, projectile, and (of course) fishing.


Roofkite

2021, Unity




Roofkite was a little vignette I made for a friend’s birthday based off a childhood memory of theirs. The scrollwheel spools and unspools the kite, with a couple hotspots for unique interactions.

Maplesoft Flight Simulator

2020, Unity




Maplesoft Flight Simulator
is a toy I made to explore the simple question of what it feels like to be a maple copter. Player’s “pop” off the tree with spacebar, and control their descent with arrow keys.



Koi

2016, Unity


Koi
was an early and formative procedural animation, inspired by my afternoons visiting the koi on my lunch breaks at the Nitobe Memorial Garden in UBC.



Morel’s Invention

2024, Processing



Morel’s Invention is a creative coding project I undertook to create a procedural model for my charcoal drawings. The end result is a set of ~20 “marks” (spirals, circles, boxes, lines, blobs, trees) that pass their vertex positions to an “annotator” that randomly connects, labels, dots, etc the positions.
